Blue was adopted by the owners of a B & B in sonora...here is the update.
Hi Amy: Blue is doing fine. He has been to our vet; he now is licensed; he has been on a trip to the Forest Service office to meet all the employees; and on several walks. Just finished playing ball with him and Tuesday he gets to meet my granddaughter and play in the park. He hasn't minded the guests as long as they don't get to loud (great at toning them down and I don't have to say a word) and they don't try to go into my personal quarters. Eating and sleeping very well. My cat is even starting to come in at night as long as Blue is in my room. I think they will end up being the best of friends. He doesn't care much about being in the guest part of the inn unless he thinks I might need some help. Also, he knows the boundries of the inn already and doesn't need a leash when I am out in the garden, etc. He is an amazing pet. Everything is working out wonderfully and you won't be getting him back. He knows he is home.
Thanks,Gail

This is regarding a young dog that we helped place out of a trailer.....poor dog was a mass of fleas...and just look at her now.
Hi Amy, I don't know if you remember me and Sunshine, she was the black and white border collie/heeler mix. I adopted her almost two years ago. I started training her for agility about 14 months ago, after our obedience training. I finally entered her in her first NADAC trial last weekend. She did great!!! She had one qualifing run and placed 3rd and 4th in two other classes. She is quite a special dog!!! We love her dearly.
I have a lot of people ask me what kind of dog she is, they think she looks like a CANAAN dog? Is there a possibility? The vet told me they thought she was border collie and blue heeler/queensland mix. At a fun match a few months back a lady overheard everyone asking me what kind of dog she was and she replied, "She's an agility dog, that's for sure". I thought that was cute!!
She is laying next to me as I am writing this, she is definitely my dog!!! She loves her boys but I am her first choice!!! She is very sweet and really very quiet for a border collie. She is just as happy sleeping as she is playing!!!
Thanks for such a beautiful addition to our family.
Regards,
Laurie, Sunshine and Family

This note was received by Cindi Garringer, who fostered Toby, a little Llasa mix dog about one year ago.

It’s been almost a year since I adopted Toby from you. I wanted to give you a quick update on him and say thanks again for giving me that second chance to adopt him. It’s been a GREAT year!
In the last year Toby has graduated from both Beginning and Intermediate Dog Training in Redwood City. He starts advanced class in the Fall. He’s always one of the best dogs in his class. He also took the AKC Canine Good Citizen Test and passed! He has a certificate and a tag that he wears with the CGC symbol on it. He’s become very well adjusted and I swear he understands a lot of English! I don’t have to tell him something more than a couple of times, he gets the idea. He does all the tricks he did when I got him from you except he actually returns the ball now when fetching. He also sneezes and speaks on command among other things.
He’s such a good dog and I’m lucky to have him. Everyone falls in love with Toby! So thanks again for everything. For Halloween I went as little bo peep and Toby was my sheep! The photos good for a laugh. J

Kirsten with her new baby kitty "Murphy". This wonderful family loves their new kitty and felt his poor broken tail just gave him extra character! Below is a letter from the Puccinelli family

I just wanted to write you and tell you how happy we are to have Murphy in our lives! He is just such a wonderful cat! He is great with our children (he even lets the 3 year old carry him around!) and so far he gets along with our 4 year old yellow lab! I appreciate all your help with his adoption. We couldn't be happier! Thank you for everything!

Jake was the pup tied to the Century 21 sign in Arnold. He was adopted by Jeannie and Jack Wong of San Francisco off our link to petfinder. Here is the most recent letter from them.

Just wanted to touch base and let you know that li'l ol Jake is now 65 pounds and 1 1/2 years old now. His most recent tricks are spinning or waving for treats. His favorite thing to do is basking in the sun on his own bench or lying in his cushy bed snoring away through the evening. There isn't one person that he's met that hasn't fallen in love with him or made them change their minds about "Big" dogs. He also loves walking down Noe Valley on Sundays and being pet by everyone he sees, while ending up at Pasta Pomodoro for brunch. The waiters bring him his own bowl of water. He also loves running off leash near our house on Bernal Hill or at the Foster City Dog Park. I hope all is well and thank you again for this wonderful little dog. :) Always, Jeannie, Jack and Jake

We recieved this letter from Beetle Barbour of Columbia regarding Mickey, a Lab/Boxer pup that was fostered by Amy Monson, head of our Foster Dog program. He and his sister Minnie, were purposefully starved by their owner and were removed from his custody to ours.

I wanted to let you know that Tim and I are so happy with our wonderful pup! He's a lot taller now; in fact, he's all long legs. We go back to the Vet on Monday to see if he's hit 50 lbs. We can't buy a year's supply of heartworm meds or Front Line until he weighs in as a big dog. He's a very smart dog. We've trained him to "sit" and "down" and walk on the leash. He trained himself in how to open the front door (we came home and he was outside....very mysterious). We let him sleep on the bed, but he already prefers to sleep in the recliner. This is a BIG chewing period, so we bought him every chew toy they sell. Still, he's gotten a few books and chunks of firewood and the occasional ballpoint pen. We added on several new high shelves to our rooms so we don't lose everything of value. He's very loving and always so delighted to see us and he wags his tail in big circles. We read that Boxers like to do the "kidney bean dance" where their tails and heads wag in opposite direction when they're excited. That's Mickey! Thank you so much for getting us together with him. He found a good home and we found the world's greatest pup! - Beetle and Tim

From Darcy Zimmerman

I first saw her on the Internet. I had been surfing the Web one evening, feeling a little bored and a little lonesome, when her ad surfaced and her ice blue eye looked through the computer screen and into my heart. I knew instantly that she was the one for me.

That is how my love affair with Luna, an eight month old Border Collie, began. For one reason or another, she had been turned in to Calaveras County Animal Services, and was posted on the Petfinders web site by the Calaveras County Humane Society. I had been mildly interested in adding a Border Collie to my pack for a while, and had been casually looking through the rescue sites on the Internet for a few weeks. Most people thought I was crazy looking for another dog, and I knew that the situation would have to be just right in order for me to adopt Dog Number Four. I wanted a fast, smart, spirited dog to train for dog agility, a sport in which I compete with my other dogs. Rather than contact a breeder to find a puppy, I also wanted a "rescue dog" that had become homeless and was in need of a family. When little Luna appeared at the pound a mere twenty minutes from me, I could not resist.

Unfortunately, I saw her ad a mere ten minutes before Animal Services was to close, and knew that work commitments over the next several days would prevent me from getting there during business hours. Luna would slip away from me if I didn't do something fast.

My mild interest had now turned into determination, and I called Calaveras Humane Societydirector and volunteer Amy Monsen, who generously offered to go to Animal Services and do all the paperwork for me. I gulped as I realized that I had just adopted a dog sight unseen! I just hoped that she would have a pleasing personality and fit in with my other three.

I didn't need to worry. She is a happy and very playful dog. She spends hours playing tug of war. She races around and around the house with the others. She gets more than her share of attention from strangers because of her interesting look, with one blue and one brown eye. She has taken to obedience training well, and I am looking forward to starting her in agility soon. Luna has become the perfect addition to my doggie family!
