We're in the Movies!

In September I received an email from movie director Dan Pavlik stating he had gotten my contact info from Judy Telezinski thru Linda Payton. He explained he was making a movie in Arnold in a few months and would need a 3-month-old medium to large breed pup. By October when Dan contacted me saying they were going to shoot in Arnold November 9th, we had 8 Border Collie pups. I sent off puppy photos and he was thrilled. On that cold morning in November Judy Telezinski, Cindi Garringer, Panda, Roo, Flicka and I all drove to the movie site, Sophie’s Chalet in Blue Lake Springs.

The cast and crew of “Nominated”, written and directed by Dan Pavlik were all there. Dan introduced them. The cast members were Brian Degan Scott, Carl Lumbly and Lance Smith. The cameraman, Dan Brotherton and soundman Dave Cowan were all ready to go. We put the pups down in the pine needles and let them play and right from the start it was evident Panda was the pup to be in the movie. Three hours later we were done. Panda, with the help of foster mom Cindi, was in his first movie. The cast and crew were elated and Cindi, Judy and I were beside ourselves with pride at how well all three little furry ones behaved. It was a wrap.

Then later that evening I received an email from Dan thanking us and also saying he needed extras for more filming on November 11. Cindi and I had previous engagements (animal related of course), so Judy rounded up Joe and Carol Aquilina, Donna Rowley, Mary Trotter, Dave Webb and Kate Gonzales to be the extras.
Again, the day was a complete success. Dan has put the Calaveras Humane Society logo on the website www.nominatedthemovie.com and it will also be in the movie credits.

Dan will let us know the release date of the movie and where all Calaveras Humane Society followers can see it.

Cast member Panda and his brothers and sisters have all been adopted.
