Wag ‘N Walk 2004

October 16th's smokey air didn't obscure the eager faces of 41 Wag 'N Walkers.  Well-behaved pooches in their pumpkin-colored scarves sniffed the competition as they investigated the historic Mountain Ranch paths.

Waggers were more than happy to lead their walkers to the “clues”, even if the "Hanging Tree" was missed the first time down the road.  Laura Dashner dashed through the 37 historical trivia questions, compiled by local resident Phil Alberts, taking first prize donated by Spence Ranch Feed.   One dazed driver quizzed, "Is there some kinda dog thing going on today?" He waited patiently for the equally dazed adventurers to cross the street as they continued looking for clue sheet answers. Thanks, Mountain Ranch, for such warm support!

Wag N Walk celebrated five years of significant contributions to help the animals of the county, adding $2600 to CHS’s operating fund this year.  Karen Kaua and her planning team: Pauline Iwata, Karen Kling, Sandy Morrison and Carol Lagomarsino outdid themselves again this year with a really creative, fun outing.  This hard-working team now “passes the leash” to CHS to host the 2005 event.

Funds generated from the Wag 'N Walk support improvements at the county Animal Services facility, such as:

  • Heating and air conditioning
  • Painting
  • New flooring
  • Cat cages and improvements in the cat room
  • Signs
  • Dog beds
  • Watering system
  • Covered livestock arena
