Adoption Procedures

Pets listed for adoption are being fostered by CHS volunteers. While in our care, foster parents do their best to observe the personality and needs of each pet in order to place it in a suitable home. Additionally, each pet is brought up to date on shots and routine medical care, and is altered. Adult dogs are tested for heartworm disease and put on preventative. Pups are started right off on the preventative.

Many of the pets we have in foster homes have come from our county shelter. Sadly, many remain there due to limited foster space. If you are interested in adopting a pet from the shelter, contact:

Adoption hours are 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday except that On Wednesday the Adoption Center is open until 7:30 p.m., and on Saturday it is open 9 a.m. to noon. For more information visit their website. You can also view descriptions of additional shelter pets available for adoption on their petfinder page.
